Charleston has some of the best boating on the East Coast. Here are a few of our favorite spots for a day on the water.
Charleston City Marina
Right in the heart of downtown, with easy access to the harbor and the Ashley River. Great fuel dock, full services, and some of the best views of the Ravenel Bridge from the water.
Shem Creek
Mount Pleasant's Shem Creek is a classic Charleston destination — restaurant docks, shrimp boats, dolphins on almost every trip. Launch from the public ramp off Ben Sawyer.
Folly Beach County Park
Great for smaller boats and kayaks. Easy access to the outer islands and the Atlantic. Watch the tides — it gets shallow fast at low water.
Bohicket Marina
Down on Seabrook Island, Bohicket is a full-service marina with access to the ACE Basin — some of the best fishing in the state. Plan a full day if you go.
Bull's Bay
Further north toward McClellanville, Bull's Bay is a hidden gem — great fishing, birds, and almost no crowds. Bring a chart and watch the tides.
